Rocklin 65's

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM

Welcome to Rocklin Pony’s 65s Select program.  The 65s program is specifically designed for baseball players looking to develop their talent, build an understanding of the game, and compete against the best competition.

In the 65s players will be able to expand upon the fundamentals learned in recreation baseball programs.  Practices are held a minimum of twice a week and are designed and implemented to follow a natural skill progression in the areas of throwing, pitching, fielding, hitting, and base running to continue the development of well-rounded players.

Players will also have the opportunity to build upon team concepts and expand their understanding of team baseball fundamentals like bunt coverages, 1st and 3rd defense, rundowns, cuts, relays, communication, and more.

Each one of our coaches has a tremendous appreciation and love for the game, as well as a strong desire to give back to the community working with players of all age groups to help them reach their full potential on and off the field.  Our mission is to provide young athletes with the instruction and opportunities needed to become elite athletes and successful citizens.

KEY PROGRAM INFORMATION

Program Type:  The 65s are not a typical travel ball program.  We are a select team affiliated with Rocklin Pony baseball that competes against travel teams and other select programs.  This alignment with Rocklin Pony allows us to have a home field, compete in summer Pony tournament program and give back to our community in partnership with the recreation program.  Those reasons above and the fact that 65s program coaches are all volunteer means that the cost of the program is significantly less that comparable programs with the same level of competition.

Schedule: Each 65's team will begin practices in September and play games and tournaments through July.  Teams typically practice 2-3 times weekly balanced around scrimmage, game and tournament schedules.  Fall months are focused on fundamental development with higher practice and slimmer tournament schedules.  After the winter break, teams typically expand their tournament schedule with 1-2 local tournaments a month leading up to the summer Pony All-Star tournament program which the 65s also participate in.  Some age groups will also have one or more destination tournament (ex. 12Us participate in the Cooperstown Tournament program).

Location:  Home games are at Whitney Community Park in Rocklin, away games throughout N. California and various tournament locations.

Player Residency:  65's players are allowed reside in any local area, and do not have to reside in Rocklin.

Other Sport Participation:  Our focus in this program is to help create well rounded individuals as well as athletes.  We love for our players to be multi-sport athletes and support their ability to do so.  We expect commitment to the program once selected, especially as all-stars tournament schedule approaches, but understand that Fall and Winter sports schedules have priority.  We do our best to work out schedules to support both but understand that sometimes players will have to miss games or practice.
